There are two (somewhat) recent leaps in consumer technology that anyone who knows me would assume I would already have but don't: iPod and Tivo. VCRs suck and I'm sick of not liking any of the CDs in my car. This must be rectified soon.
I was in the commercial, you'd think I'd have one!

I didn't have a Tivo brand DVR, but had a DVR through my cable company in Orlando. They are awesome. A lot of cable companies rent 'em out for $4-$10 a month. Give your peeps a call.
Up here it's only $5 more a month to have DVR (that's above and beyond your actual cable price) That's Time Warner. Don't know what ya'll have down there. In New Orleans it was Cox, which I think might even have been cheaper. You basically pay a little extra to rent the different box. I LOVE DVR more than life itself. The amount of horrible, crappy television I've been able to watch is wonderful. Also, I record games that I'm not necessarily THAT into and then I can fast forward through all the commercials and stupid sideline crap, etc...
charter has a DVR service that I was SUPPOSED to get when I moved but they screwed up the work order so I only had the regular cable box and said "that's cool, just make sure I don't get charged for the DVR" and then I WAS charged for the DVR and it was just easier to get them to change my service instead of rescheduling a service call six times. But I still might look into it again.
